Although the variety of water-resistant speakers isn’t great, we have decided to review the most prominent model, which is also one of the highest sellers, and for good reason.
Klark&Helmer Speaker
In this review we will look at a very interesting product, one which we encounter daily, however it meets the basic needs of anyone who wants to play music in their backyard, balcony or any outdoor installation. We are talking about the high quality outdoor speakers by Klark&Helmer (which are suitable and recommended for indoor use as well).
The new “Exellence” series features three levels of size and power, that differ in price accordingly. The first has a 3 inch woofer with a power rating of 80 watts. The middle features a 5.5 inch woofer with a power rating of 200 watts. The strongest in the series has an 8 inch woofer with a power rating of 300 watts.
Today we will focus on the two more powerful models.
Unboxing
The design of the package is identical in both models, with the only difference being the size.
As soon as you unbox the speaker you can notice the oval lines giving it a modern and up-to-date look. The speaker itself comes in an elegant cream color. In it’s rear you find a plug for a two-stranded cable coming from the amp. In the front – the decorated grill with hollows over each element, and the yellow logo of Klark&Helmer at the bottom.
All in all, the design is very interesting and refreshing.
Also included is a grip handle for a wall, which feels very sturdy. It easily connects to the speaker and enables it to be mounted safely. Other than that, you can find the very helpful user manual.
First Use
In this review we’ve encountered sort of a strange situation – The “Excellence” series speakers perform best when mounted on a wall or ceiling. So we’ve constructed two vertical panels, mounting the speakers on them accordingly.
Being passive speakers – they require a suitable amplifier. After the simple installation and connection of each pair of speakers to a suitable powerful amplifier, we turned to playing some music and accurately assessing both the power and quality of the speakers, in stereo.
At first we played some music with the smaller “Excellence 5.5”. The sound coming from both speakers at the sides of the room was full and wholesome. Klark&Helmer undoubtedly used the highest quality material to create the elements used in the “Exellence” series. The music sounded fantastic and warm in the entire frequency range.
After a first successful inspection of the 5.5 inch we turned to the largest in the series – the 8 inch 300 watt speaker. I had high expectations and the 8 inch surpassed them, throwing me completely off guard. If I thought the 5.5 sounded great, clean and precise – when listening to the 8 inch you get a higher quality sound image at a substantially higher volume.
The 8 inch speaker can meet many needs and be used in numerous applications such as PA systems for schools, institutions, places of worship and many more.
It should be mentioned that both speakers provide a warm and cohesive listening experience in stereo, while using more than two in a surround installation brings you that perfect home theater experience, for movies or music.
Conclusion
After inspecting the new “Excellence” series speakers by Klark&Helmer in different applications such as: a home theater, playing music, PA for businesses, karaoke and many more, we can safely say that these speakers are the full package of sound quality in a sturdy build. We are talking about a refined quality of sound in a water-resistant cabinet that is even designed in good taste.
Anyone who installs at least two of these speakers, paired with a proper amp, will receive a stunning and very satisfying result.
